Wat is een apostille?

Voor landen die meedoen aan het Apostilleverdrag kunt u het document echt laten verklaren met een apostille. Dit is een stempel of sticker op het document. U haalt de apostille bij een rechtbank in Nederland. Na legalisatie kunt u het document gebruiken in het buitenland.

De apostille is een stempel (of sticker) van de rechtbank op een officieel document, die aantoont dat de handtekening op het document echt is. Met die stempel is het document geldig in het buitenland.

Wie legaliseert wat?

Documenten van buiten de Europese Unie moeten worden gelegaliseerd door de autoriteiten van het land van afgifte. Voor informatie kunt u terecht bij het consulaat van het betreffende land. Legalisatie bewijst: dat een buitenlands document is afgegeven door een autoriteit die daarvoor bevoegd is.

Wie mag legaliseren?

Iedere notaris in Nederland kan uw handtekening legaliseren. Een notaris kan daarvoor kosten in rekening brengen. Het is daarom wellicht raadzaam dat vooraf bij uw notaris na te vragen.
