Welke klachten bij ijzerstapeling?
Veel mensen met hemochromatose hebben geen of nauwelijks klachten. De symptomen ontstaan vaak pas rond het 30e tot 40e levensjaar….De eerste klachten die kunnen voorkomen zijn:
- gewrichtspijn,
- vermoeidheid,
- gebrek aan energie,
- buikpijn,
- verlies van libido,
- hartproblemen.
Waar wordt ijzer uit het bloed gehaald?
In het beenmerg worden de bloedcellen weer vlot aangemaakt. Het ijzer, als noodzakelijke grondstof hiervoor, wordt gehaald uit al die cellen waarin ijzerstape- ling is opgetreden. Na verloop van tijd zal al het overtollige ijzer uit het lichaam verwijderd zijn, al kan dat soms enkele jaren duren.
De meest voorkomende klachten bij hemochromatose zijn:
- Extreme en langdurige vermoeidheid.
- Gewrichtsklachten.
- Buikpijn in de bovenbuik.
- Een vergrote lever en afwijkende leverfuncties. Op den duur kan verschrompeling van de levercellen ontstaan.
