Wat betekent een status quo?
Status quo is een Latijnse uitdrukking die zoveel als “bestaande toestand” of “huidige gang van zaken” betekent. De term kan verwijzen naar: Status quo (toestand), een bestaande toestand, stand van zaken. Status Quo (band) (met hoofdletter Q), een Britse rockband.
Hoe gebruik je cq?
C.q. staat voor casu quo, wat in een letterlijke vertaling uit het Latijn ‘in welk geval’ betekent. In modern Nederlands zouden we zeggen: ‘als dat geval zich voordoet’, ‘als dat nodig is’. Bij het gebruik van c.q. wordt er dus van uitgegaan dat in een eerder stadium een keuze is bepaald of dat iets vaststaat.

Status Quo are an English rock band that formed in 1962. The group originated in London as The Scorpions and was founded by Francis Rossi and Alan Lancaster while they were still schoolboys.

The band had to postpone a concert in June 2017 after frontman Rossi became ill. In June 2019, Status Quo were the special guests for Lynyrd Skynyrd, on their UK farewell tour. On 14 June 2019, the band announced that they were working on Backbone, their 33rd studio album – the first Status Quo studio album not to feature Parfitt.
